Title:                   Modelling the transmission of Ebola: example of Kikwit 1995
Venue:                Lecture theatre III, School of Medicine
Summary:          A vaccine against Ebola virus may soon be available, and so answering the question of how best to deploy that vaccine is critical. We used a transmission model, where the routes and rates of infection between infected individuals are estimated, to examine the impact of vaccination either before or during an outbreak. We fitted the model to data from an outbreak in Kikwit, DRC in 1995. I will discuss these results, their interpretation, and some benefits and challenges of transmission modelling.
