“UANDISHI-Building Capacity for Writing Scientific Manuscripts” is an innovative and experiential training program in mentoring and scientific manuscript writing aimed at building capacity for scientific writing, at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) University of Nairobi (UoN); the program is hosted at KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research.

This is a call for applicants (Mentees), for a mentored Scientific Manuscript Writing course, from March to May 2024. This training program will involve workshops and individualized mentoring while developing a manuscript for submission to a peer reviewed journal.

The mentorship and training will consist of: -

Scientific Writing Workshop (6 days, 14th – 21st March, 2024): This will be an interactive workshop consisting of presentations and mentorship breaks, for building/enhancing manuscript-writing knowledge and skills.

Mentoring period (25th March – 7th May, 2024): During this period, each Mentee shall receive structured and individualized mentorship towards developing their manuscript.

Peer review of manuscripts (27th – 31st May, 2024): Experiential peer review of manuscripts and mentored writing. This will be followed by manuscript finalization and submission to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.

Applicants should be postgraduate students (Masters, Fellowship, PhD), Tutorial Fellows, or research staff from FHS; should possess research data; and be willing to develop a manuscript from their data.
