KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) proudly congratulates Joel Musando and Naomi Mwakishi for representing the institute at the Keystone Symposium on Viral Pathogenesis and Immunity in Hannover, Germany, after receiving the prestigious Global Health Travel Award.

The symposium brought together leading experts in virology and immunology, providing both researchers with an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge science and expand international collaborations. Joel and Naomi presented  posters on their  master's research work , receiving valuable feedback from experts that will strengthen their work. Joel  connected with internationally recognised scientists including Dr. Ted Pierson of the Vaccine Research Center and Dr. Sonja Fernbach of the University of Copenhagen, whose work closely aligns with her anti-cytokine research. Joel and Naomi also networked with fellow awardees from Ethiopia and Uganda, strengthening regional scientific collaboration.

Joel acknowledged the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Muema, Dr. Perpetual Ndungu, Dr. Caroline Mangare and KAVI-ICR Director Prof. Marianne Mureithi  and Naomi acknowledges the guidance of Dr. Daniel Muema and Prof. Marianne Mureithi, for their unwavering mentorship KAVI-ICR congratulates both Joel and Naomi for representing the institute and the University of Nairobi with distinction and looks forward to the impact of the knowledge, networks and collaborations they have brought back.
