The KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) proudly celebrates a landmark achievement by its Director, Prof. Marianne Wanjiru Mureithi, following her promotion to the rank of Professor by the University of Nairobi.
This promotion marks a historic milestone as Prof. Mureithi becomes the first woman in the history of the Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology to attain the rank of Professor.
A distinguished scientist, mentor, and research leader, Prof. Mureithi has dedicated her career to advancing scientific discovery and improving public health through innovative research in HIV, immunology, infectious diseases, and women's health. Her work has contributed significantly to understanding the early stages of HIV infection and informing the development of vaccines and prevention strategies that have global relevance.
As Director of KAVI-ICR, Prof. Mureithi leads a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in clinical and translational research. Under her leadership, the institute continues to strengthen its position as a leading African research center, fostering scientific innovation, strategic partnerships, and the training of the next generation of researchers.
Throughout her career, Prof. Mureithi has been a passionate advocate for mentorship and capacity building. She has supervised and guided numerous Master's and PhD students, championing opportunities for young scientists and helping shape future leaders in biomedical research.
