Dr Marianne W. Mureithi, Director of the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR)  at the University of Nairobi, is a Co-Investigator on a newly announced CAD 2 million (5-year) international team grant funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) under its Bringing Biology to Cancer Prevention programme.

The study will examine how inflammation and hormonal changes influence HPV persistence and cervical cancer risk in menopausal women.

The symposium focused on infectious diseases in Africa and capacity building in grant writing, bringing together MSc and PhD trainees alongside leading scientists from across the continent.
