The KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) team from the University of Nairobi paid a courtesy visit to Migori County Referral Hospital as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic research institutions and county health facilities.
The visit brought together KAVI-ICR leadership, hospital management, and laboratory teams for constructive engagement to explore opportunities for collaborative research, capacity building, and clinical partnerships. Discussions centred on how joint initiatives can support high-quality clinical research that is responsive to local health priorities while strengthening service delivery and laboratory systems.
The KAVI-ICR team was encouraged by the Migori County Referral Hospital team’s strong commitment to patient care, openness to collaboration, and robust local systems that support both clinical and laboratory services. Such partnerships are critical in ensuring that research is firmly grounded in real-world clinical settings and that scientific evidence translates into tangible improvements in health outcomes for Kenyan communities.
KAVI-ICR remains committed to working closely with county-level health facilities to co-create research and training initiatives that build local capacity, support health workers, and contribute to nationally relevant and globally impactful science.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and staff of Migori County Referral Hospital for the warm reception and insightful discussions. We look forward to building a strong, sustainable collaboration.
