The KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) proudly celebrates a landmark achievement by its Director, Prof. Marianne Wanjiru Mureithi, following her promotion to the rank of Professor by the University of Nairobi.

This promotion marks a historic milestone as Prof. Mureithi becomes the first woman in the history of the Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology to attain the rank of Professor.

Every year, hundreds of women and men walk into Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) with breast, ovarian, or prostate cancer. Some of them carry a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation, a genetic marker that could open the door to life-extending treatment but many may never know. The test that would tell them is cost-prohibitive, and it is not routinely offered in public hospitals in Kenya.

KAVI-ICR was pleased to host Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei, newly appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, during a courtesy visit to the Institute.

The visit brought together KAVI-ICR leadership and newly elected student leaders from the Faculty of Health Sciences and UNSA for an engaging discussion on mentorship, research exposure, academic growth and opportunities for continued collaboration.
