The Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNPHI) recently convened the Kenya Health Research Prioritization Workshop, bringing together leading experts to chart a clear path for impactful health research in the country.
We are proud to highlight our own Prof. Omu Anzala in his capacity as a leading consultant for Africa CDC, and a founding member and former Director of the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR), University of Nairobi, for his active contribution to this important national dialogue.
For decades, Prof. Anzala has been at the forefront of infectious disease research, vaccine development, and clinical trials, building KAVI-ICR into a regional hub for HIV/AIDS research, emerging infectious diseases, and scientific capacity building. His participation in the workshop underscores his ongoing commitment to shaping Kenya’s research agenda.
💬 “Health research is not just about generating knowledge—it is about ensuring that the knowledge we create directly impacts the health and wellbeing of our people. By aligning our research priorities with national needs, we can accelerate progress toward a healthier Kenya.” — Prof. Omu Anzala
The workshop’s goals—to ensure that national health research priorities address pressing public health needs and translate into evidence-based solutions—strongly resonate with Prof. Anzala’s lifelong dedication to advancing Kenya’s health research capacity.
At KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research, we remain committed to supporting this vision through:
- Collaborative science
- Innovative research
- Translation of discoveries into improved health outcomes
Together, we can accelerate Kenya’s progress toward a stronger, healthier future.
