Recombinant Protein Production Training Workshop

The recombinant protein production training workshop hosted by KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research in collaboration with BioStruct-Africa has officially commenced today at the University of Nairobi. Taking place at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Nairobi from 27 April to 2 May 2026, the week-long workshop brings together a select group of scientists for an intensive, hands-on learning experience focused on recombinant protein production.

The launch of this training marks a significant step in strengthening Africa’s capacity in vaccine research, development, and manufacturing. Participants have begun engaging in practical laboratory sessions covering protein expression, purification, and characterisation of core techniques that underpin modern vaccine and biologics development.

This initiative reflects the continued commitment of both KAVI-ICR and BioStruct-Africa to building sustainable scientific capacity across the continent through collaborative, skills-driven training. Over the course of the week, participants will not only deepen their technical expertise but also contribute to a growing network of scientists dedicated to advancing biotechnology in Africa. As the workshop gets underway, it sets the stage for meaningful knowledge exchange, innovation, and long-term collaboration in support of Africa’s public health and research priorities.
