The One Health Early Career Champions–program (ECC) offers you the opportunity to become a part of the ECC community at the universities of Nairobi and Helsinki. As a mentee in the program, you will benefit from the personal career advice and guidance of two carefully chosen mentors and one experienced researcher from each university. This opportunity is open to a maximum of twelve doctoral researchers, six from Nairobi and six from Helsinki.

TABASAMU: A multidisciplinary collaboration on building up research capacity in oral health and HIV/AIDS

On 14th Feb 2022, Prof Walter Jaoko, Prof Omu Anzala and Dr. Marianne Mureithi met with Prof. Arthur Kemoli from the Department of Dental Sciences and representatives of the University of Washington led by Prof. Ana Lucia Seminario to discuss setting up a collaborative group that aims at increasing research capacity in oral health and HIV research in Kenya.

Imagine a world with a HIV vaccine.

 A world where millions of HIV/AIDS infections are prevented. Well, imagine no more because scientists are now fast-tracking the development of an efficient HIV vaccine. 

While a HIV vaccine may not  directly benefit people living with HIV, scientists at the Kenya Aids Vaccine Initiative (KAVI) told Healthy Nation that it will eventually offload the burden on persons requiring lifelong treatment through antiretroviral drugs.
