Newly emerging pathogens including bacterial pathogens with emerging resistance to current antimicrobial agents pose a major public health problem globally. There is an urgent need for more trans-disciplinary and trans-sectorial approaches to prioritize and tackle this emerging public health problem.
On 24th September 2019, the first volunteer was enrolled in the IAVI-W001 study at the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) of the University of Nairobi. The occasion marks the beginning of the 12th HIV vaccine clinical trial to be conducted at KAVI-ICR since 2001. This is a first-in-human study that uses a Native-trimer HIV envelope design that will hopefully stimulate broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV.

The School of Dental Sciences held its Hippocratic Oath ceremony for the graduates of class 2017 on Friday 17th November 2017 at the School of Dental Sciences.
The oath was administered by Dr. Regina J. Mutave – Dean School of Dental Sciences, to the (20) Bachelor of Dental Surgery students who qualified for the award of Degree in Bachelor of Dental Surgery by the University of Nairobi.
