On 29 July 2026, the KAVI Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) at the University of Nairobi hosted a ThermoFisher Innovation Day, welcoming a delegation from Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) and Thermo Fisher Scientific together with scientists from Partners for Health and Development in Africa (PHDA) and the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Health Sciences.

Clinical and laboratory teams from Mbagathi County Hospital and Loitokitok Sub-County Hospital completed a week of intensive training before the dry run on 10 July 2026.

The Kenyan arm of the ZAFI study reached an important milestone this month with a five-day site initiation and training programme at KAVI-ICR in Nairobi.
