Every year, hundreds of women and men walk into Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) with breast, ovarian, or prostate cancer. Some of them carry a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation, a genetic marker that could open the door to life-extending treatment but many may never know. The test that would tell them is cost-prohibitive, and it is not routinely offered in public hospitals in Kenya.

KAVI-ICR was pleased to host Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei, newly appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, during a courtesy visit to the Institute.

The visit brought together KAVI-ICR leadership and newly elected student leaders from the Faculty of Health Sciences and UNSA for an engaging discussion on mentorship, research exposure, academic growth and opportunities for continued collaboration.

The week-long forum brought together policymakers, scientists, innovators, academia, industry and development partners to advance conversations on the role of science, research, technology and innovation in national development.
